Professional & Career Awareness
We are able to offer students at adopted SATW schools work experience placements within Cushman & Wakefield offices to help broaden their knowledge of the business world. Here are a few examples of recent projects:
- For the second year running, our Prague office in Czech Republic has hosted one of the students from the Special School for Children with Hearing Difficulties to help in the research department and, subsequently help with some office administration work.
- A student from the British International School of Hungary spent a week with our Budapest office in June 2011.
- Our Prague team also organised a three-day excursion/training for students wishing to become dentists at a dental laboratory in Germany.
- Five students from Lilian Baylis School of Technology in London completed a two-week work experience placement at our head office at Portman Square. The students, all aged 14, were placed in the HR, IT, marketing, valuation and account management departments, and assigned a supervisor and buddy. Following a half day induction on the first day, they spent the remainder of their time helping out on various tasks such as PC & laptop repairs, preparation of presentation and marketing materials, property inspections, internet researching, and scanning and document management. Their final task was to each design a five-minute presentation on what they have learnt from working within C&W.
- Our German team ran two seminars to help students with job applications, discussing strengths and weaknesses, suitable jobs and employer expectations and providing tutoring lessons in German, English and Maths to help final exams.
- In Czech Republic we provided invaluable weekly sessions on ‘How to choose a future job’ – showing students possibilities for future employment.
- In Turkey SATW programme is working with students from Tunceli schools. Four of the students are now studying at university: Hatice and Simay are now in their third year at the Law School in Istanbul – both work parttime in solicitor’s office and during this summer Hatice was the guest of one of the UK Partners and his family in Manchester to improve her English.
